Automatically Set the End of the Frame Range for Video Editing in Blender

Debian 13.4, Blender version: 4.3.2

 Video Editing:

There are various ways to get the End of the frame range, but you still need to enter the Scene -> Frame Range -> End manually which is a pain...

Example:

1. Right-click in the Sequencer and select Set Preview Range to Strips and in the lower right corner, it will show the end Frame instead of the default value of 250. So copy the value and paste in Scene -> Frame Range -> End

 2. To the right-side of Sequencer, click Time and it will show the Duration which is the same as the End at the bottom right of the window, however the displayed End is actually one frame after the actual end so....it's a bit confusing. Copy the value and paste in Scene -> Frame Range

 3. Click the end of the file on the time marker but that's kind of guessing where the last frame is and isn't very accurate, you can be off by a few frames. Copy the value and paste in Scene -> Frame Range -> End

The "automatic" way:

Still need to press some keys but much easier than the above ways and it is somewhat automatic...

Populating both the bottom right End AND Scene -> Frame Range -> End

First you need to add a new key sequence under Edit -> Preferences -> Keymap -> Animation

At the bottom, click Add New and click '>' next to none

Click 'none' and type 'sequencer.set_range' and select 'sequencer.set_range_to_strips'

Then add your key sequence. I chose Shift+Ctrl+End

The name Set Range to Strips is set automatically.

All done....that's it.

Now when you add a new video and you hit Shift+Ctrl+End, the value for Frame Range is set automatically under Scene and at the bottom right of the window.

 Hope this helps someone. Cheers.
